_______________________________________________________________________________ TeX USAGE MODES: _______________________________________________________________________________ IF YOU RUN "SETUP" FROM ANYWHERE: FRONT PANEL POPUP MENU (lion icon) Starting (alternatives): - Click the icon - Drop a file on the icon - Pop up the menu Operation: - Click menu buttons (refer to the file entered during "setup") ICONS IN APPLICATION MANAGER Operation: - Double-click (refer to the file entered during "setup") ICONS ON WORKSPACE Operation: - Drag icons from Application Manager onto the desktop - they will stay fixed, in contrast to the menu which pops down - Double-click icons. WITHOUT "SETUP", USING FILE ICONS: FILE MANAGER Operation: - click files with mouse button 3, select actions _______________________________________________________________________________ REMARKS: _______________________________________________________________________________ - The "loop" button is fine once your file works and can be processed automatically. ____________________________________________________________________ | If you use the "loop" button, you only need to keep 3 windows | | (loop, editor, xdvi). You can even iconify the loop window. | |____________________________________________________________________| - The editing actions ask for the editor, or else use the EDITOR variable as set in $HOME/.vueprofile, and failing that, they put you in the system default editor (currently vuepad). - "TeX" and "LaTeX" actions produce both DVI and PS files, so the "DVI -> PS" action is normally not needed. - You need not close any window during work. Use windows sparingly. - The previewers (Xdvi, Ghostview) can reload a new file without restart. - The "View (PS)" option is appropriate if: - Xdvi fails to display all fonts properly. - You want an exact scale display. - You want PostScript figures displayed (new xdvi can do that also). - Please use the "Cleanup" action. _______________________________________________________________________________ R.
